Fruit and flowers

June 29, 2018

We have a few trees that are bearing fruit. Yeah!!!

This looks like a future apple to me.

I will be interested to see what this becomes.
It looks like a berry, possibly for the birds?

I don't know what this is to become, but I will be excited to find out.

This one had pretty pink blossoms and now has reddish fruit.
It will be fun to see what it becomes.

I know the thistles can not be allowed to stay, but the flowers are pretty.
One night with scriptures we took turns reading a verse they naming something we could do with thistles.
I suggested bouquets to all our friends and family. Would you like one?
Other ideas were bed stuffing, weaving the fibers to assorted things, or using the seeds as sort of a biological warfare, yikes.

Tourists

June 28, 2018

Today we were surprised to find a caravan of Asian tourists by our home.
They were taking pictures in the field we get to look at every day.
It is nice to know we are not the only ones who enjoy the view.

I am glad I did not charge the battery and it died after one picture.
Just after this we saw a someone using the side of the road for other purposes.
I would rather not have a picture of that.

It was fun to watch their enthusiasm for the beautiful view!

Partial Tour

Here are a few of my favorite parts
and one not so favorite part
of our little patch of Heaven.

Reason number 1 for loving this place: The View

Our cute Creek
I love it
The Trees and privacy
Hay shed, Winter wood stack, Raised bed pieces by Shop
This wood means we will be nice and cozy this winter

Random wood pieces behind shop
These piece may add to winter warmth
Kindling pile by Hay shed and shop
The more kindling the easier it is to start our cozy fire
It also means the trees by our house are trimmed enough for a Hammock
(I will try to get a pictures of that another day)

Play land in big back yard, in the shade most the day
I can see this view as I wash dishes in the kitchen.

Backyard Garden bed by house

Front of Madeline's Miny House
the beginnings of the deck we hope to build for it

Front garden/herb bed

Front plant bed

Front of the house
I love the Doors all painted Red to match the roof and fascia
That little bench holds a fun surprise.
It turns into a little table
Not a love... Pile of Thistles we have pulled out.
It is about up to my shoulders in places
This pile and the work it represents is worth all the other above things
and so many more wonderful things about life here!

New Adventures

June 2018
This month we moved into a new home, ready for new adventures.
We have cleaned, painted, packed, moved, un-packed, planned, mowed, weeded, planted, weeded some more, mudded, sanded, repaired, built, stacked, sorted, learned... and the adventure is just beginning.

Bunny Hutch
One of the first things we promised our daughter is a bunny. She wanted a pet of her own and though she would have chosen a dog, my sweetheart and I are just not really dog people. We like a few dogs of our friends and family but do not want one ourselves.

This past week we built the hutch from a second hand cabinet we found. That was an adventure. I had never built anything like it, but it was fun to play with tools and imagination.

Nutmeg was the first addition to our new life.
Nutmeg

I imagine our place as becoming "West of Eden". Not a lush weedless garden like Eden, but with the goal of something that we love as much as the Garden of Eden. Plants, animals, family. Working together....
My husband imagines it more of "Eden Westside". To me that sounds almost rebellious in nature. I guess that fits my nature, though I wish I was a little less rebellious at this point in my life.
My Dad said it sounds more like "Garden of Weedin'" I guess that may be true too.

Whatever the name, I am loving the adventure so far. Work is hard, but it feels so good to stand back and see what we are accomplishing. I love to feel tired from honest labor. It is a lot of fun to try new things. Even if we mess up, we are still learning. Our children may say they hate it at times, but I love working side by side with them and my sweetheart.
